I am Mousam Ray, born, brought up and residing in Jalpaiguri, a small town in the north of the Indian state of West Bengal. I picked up photography and particularly about birds and their myriad moods and actions from 2009 after a chance click of a female Koel devouring a papaya on a friend’s camera. Over the years, the hobby has grown wider to cover nature and wildlife photography though birds still remain my most loved subject. Many habitats around Jalpaiguri and several migratory species have provided ample opportunity to further the love of photography though I have also visited many wildlife sanctuaries in India. Till date, I have won several national and international awards including the  Gaj Yatra Photography Awards (2017), Sanctuary Wildlife Photography Awards (2019 & 2020), India Photography Awards (Monthly Competition, 4 times), India Photography Annual Awards  (1st position in 2021 & Hon. Mention, 2017), Nature TTL Photography Competition (2021), Siena Photography Awards (2021). First time as an Indian I have been awarded by the GOLD AWARD in Bird Behaviour Category in the World biggest Bird Photography Contest, THE BIRD PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR, 2021 .
